Presenting Parul Mehta: Yoga Spirit Festival Malaysia 2014 Teacher Line Up

PARUL MEHTA is a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher. A lawyer by training and a mother of 2, she is a practitioner of yoga for more than 20 years. Parul started teaching yoga in 2000 and found full expression in the Iyengar Yoga tradition in 2004 under the tutelage of the late Karin O'Bannon, a highly respected Senior Iyengar Yoga Teacher. With her frequent trips to Pune, she has studied with The Iyengars themselves - Guruji BKS Iyengar, Geetaji and Prashantji. In addition, she has been fortunate to journey her learning with the best of senior Iyengar teachers - Birjoo Mehta, Faeq Biria, Usha Devi and Peter Scott.

Parul says: "Yoga has always been the one constant through my life. It is expressed in my dance, my singing, and even in my training in law".

Parul teaches with a passion and moves to inspire her students to connect with themselves, physically, mentally and spiritually. She infuses in them the confidence to aspire to reach their potential. Her sincerity and personal guidance to each student in her group classes, bonds her to them.

Parul holds Iyengar Yoga classes in mainly two suburbs in Kuala Lumpur - Hartamas and Mont Kiara - and at the BKS Iyengar Yogashala. She also has long standing corporate clients who acknowledge her contribution to their wellness programme. She has taught at the International Yoga Festival in Rishikesh in 2005 and at various international retreats over the years.

As a teacher committed to ongoing learning, Parul organizes yoga retreats for her students to sanctums in Rishikesh, the yoga capital of the world and Thailand.

Class with Parul at the Yoga Spirit Festival Malaysia, 11th & 12th Oct 2014:

The Art of Twisting: From the Outside In

Cleanse and refresh by wringing out the toxins and lackluster from the muscles, tissues and organs. Free the hips and shoulders. Twist for a happy and healthy spine. Twisting Postures will help restore your spine's natural range of motion, cleanse your organs, and stimulate circulation.

An Iyengar Class with an emphasis on alignment will focus on lengthening and extension of the spine to work into twists. We will work with postures that provide a fundamental understanding of twists and work towards some deeper twists in standings, seated postures, inversions and supine postures.

"Health is a state of complete harmony of the body, mind and spirit. When one is free from physical disabilities and mental distractions, the gates of the soul open."... BKS Iyengar
